Swan and Henrietta were due the same day. Toward the end of breeding season, Hawk broke through a divider in the barn. Although he didn't manage to breed nearly as many as Oregano, he managed some bad choices: Swan is too young and Henrietta is ... well, Henrietta.
Swan lambed Friday night. She is only a year old, but she did a good job. Sky, her lamb, is a tiny black gulmoget ewe. Swan had a retained afterbirth (as did Adelie, the other ewe lamb who was accidentally bred), but she is doing fine now.
Henrietta went overdue by several days. Each day that passed increased my worries. (If you're wondering why, read about Henrietta's previous lambs
here,
here, and
here.) On Monday morning, she went into labor. I rushed to the barn, ready for (almost) anything, but other than giving Henrietta Nutri-Drench and allowing her to lean against my leg, I didn't need to do anything to help. Henrietta's lamb is an average-sized black ram lamb. We've named him El Nino.
