We've been doing the chicken thing long enough to know that our pullets should be laying eggs. We found one in the coop awhile ago, but since then nothing. None in the coop, none in the barn (at least in the obvious places), none in the pasture.
Today, we found them. The boys found Pennsylvania in the backyard. (Can you find her in this picture? She's a good hider!)
And under her? A whole clutch of little green eggs!
They're not all hers. We've seen New York (aka Yorkie) and Iowa in the general vicinity as well. It probably explains why Oklahoma is obsessed with the backyard--he's trying to keep his potential babies safe.
I think we'll put a nest box there. It's not far from the kitchen, so we'll have super-fresh eggs. And let's face--they're going to lay their eggs there whether there's a nest box or not.
All the eggs are green, so we know they are all Easter Egger eggs. Now the question is: where are the Brahmas, Colombian Rocks, and mystery red pullets laying their eggs?
