It's Timmy!

Our current rams are a little too closely related to our youngest batch of ewes (those who will be bred for the first time in the fall). Now that Chert has moved on to a new home with new ladies (and a couple of familiar faces), we brought home Timmy.

Timmy!

He was well-behaved in the van (most of the sheep have been).  We kept telling him about all the nice new ladies he will meet.  I don't think he believes us as all the ewes are hiding out in their shelter.

Where are the girls?  Timmy meets Pecan.

Timmy is closely related to one of our sheep.  Can you guess who?

Feldspar & Almond wait to meet Timmy.

He is Almond's father.  I love Almond's fleece (as I go on and on about), so we knew we wanted him when we saw him for sale.

A lot of white: Feldspar, Almond, & Timmy

So far, father and son are getting along famously.  There aren't any problems with the other wethers or Feldspar yet, either.  It's so hot that they are hanging out in the shelter and/or the shade, so we'll see what happens when it cools off a little.

It's Myrtle!

Finally, a few pictures of Myrtle.  She's out and about these days with a select group of friends.  (The smaller and/or calmer sheep are in the pasture with her; the others are in a different pasture.)

Not that only wild girls are in other pasture.  Some are there because their lambs are more rambunctious than most.  (Oddly, most of the ram lambs are in the front, including the only ones who are still intact!)

Elvira
Some of them are in the other pasture because they are large....and in some cases, very fond of food.

Tiffany
And some of them are in the other pasture because they are the sheep equivalent of teenagers.

Beryl
And, of course, Snowball prefers to eat in peace....well, sort of in peace.

Peat, Cedar, and the new wethers

This was the first weekend of mass castration.  Peat reassured the new wethers.

Sycamore and Peat

I don't think they believed him, but he really does have quite the life.

I'm spinning Peat's lamb fleece now.  It's a wonderful color.

And as for the new (or soon-to-be) wethers:

Bucky is looking more like big brother Peat everyday, but it looks like he will stay black.

Linden's twin sister Laurel is off to a new farm, but Linden is distracting himself with the wheelbarrow and his buddy Cedar.

Here's the third picture today of Cedar not looking at the camera.  (Perhaps four.  That might be him in the picture behind Bucky.)

Finally, Cedar (sort of) looking at the camera:
