Even More Lambs: Opal, Elsie, Sassy, Cayenne, & Elvira

Opal

Opal lambed early Tuesday morning.  Opal's first lamb is grey katmoget ewe named Mist. She has a large white spot on her back, but eventually, she'll be solid grey.  Opal's second lamb is a white ram named Fog.

Elsie

Elsie lambed the following day.  We weren't sure what to expect because she was enormous, but she delivered two ram lambs.  They are big, gorgeous guys!  Fahrenheit is the only brown lamb so far this year, and Celsius is a white ram.

Sassy

Sassy acted as if she was about lamb all day on Thursday, but she waited until after she had her dinner to deliver her lambs.  Even though the chickens were bothering her, she did a great job lambing and getting her lambs up to nurse.  Snow is a white ewe lamb, and Ice is a white ram.

Cayenne

I knew Cayenne was expecting, but I thought her due date was a couple of weeks into the future.  When I saw a mini-Cayenne baaing in the barn on Friday morning, I knew she was one of the ewes Oregano visited on his foray over the fence (the total is up to SIX).  Moving Cayenne and her lamb was quite an adventure--Cayenne was a confused first time mom and their were a lot of ewes to interfere. Cayenne's lamb is a gray katmoget ram lamb we've named Haze.

 Elvira

Elvira lambed on Saturday around lunchtime.  Her lambs are both rams.  The black one is named Tornado, and the white one is named Cyclone.  The white ram has black markings on his hip and legs that help him stand out from his many brothers.

Now we have a break from lambing!  It should be over two weeks until we have more lambs.
