Lots of Surprises: Vanilla, Cinnamon, & Peanut

Vanilla lambed Sunday night.  It was a huge surprise.  It was the earliest any of our ewes has ever lambed, and the ewes who do lamb early usually are on the smaller side or have twins.  Vanilla is a big girl (compared to the rest of our sheep) and she delivered a single ewe lamb.  Her lamb, who is named Sunshine, is a white ewe.  She has a few spots. She is the first of Hawk's lambs.  The rest of the lambs this year will be his.

I expected Cinnamon, Vanilla's twin, to lamb early as well.  Although she wasn't much overdue, she did go past her due date.  Cinnamon lambed Tuesday afternoon.  She delivered a single dark brown ewe lamb we've named Tempest.

Meanwhile, Peanut was looking enormous.  On Friday night, we checked on her at 9:30.  She was acting completely normal.  At 11, I looked at the video monitor to see Peanut licking a lamb.  Her first lamb is a brown gulmoget ram lamb (Typhoon).  He was quickly followed by a white ram (Hurricane).
